Red Sun and Snag

High clouds and smoke from forest fires had obscured the sun for most of the day, but a persistent gap to the west suggested that the sun might appear near sunset. I waited several hours for that possibility, and my patience paid off. I've digitally altered the horizon line to make it smoother. Photo © copyright by Stephen Penland.
