I once spent an entire night on the rocky shoreline of Beach Three under a nearly full moon. The very long exposures gave a smooth, dream-like quality to the water around the rocks. It was actually darker than it appears here; the long exposure has allowed more light to be recorded so that the scene appears brighter than reality. I was mildly worried that a "sneaker wave' would wash me out to sea, leaving only a tripod for beach visitors to puzzle over the next morning. Photo © copyright by Stephen Penland.
