Iceland is a relatively young country geologically and is actively influenced by volcanic events. It's a land of rugged hillsides, waterfalls, sharply eroded stream valleys, volcanic rock, and moss of every green hue imaginable. I never realized a country could be so beautiful despite the absence of trees over miles of rugged terrain.
I visited Iceland in 2009 with a group of photographers from all over the world on a trip organized by Isafold Travel. Our guide was Haukur Snorrason, a resident and professional photographer in Iceland. Our trip was made even more enjoyable through the wonderful hospitality and great cooking of Haukur's wife, Hadda Gisladottir.
