End of an Honest Day

Walla Walla, Washington

A caterpillar pulling discs sits idle and in silhouette as the sun sets in the distance.  I pulled back to include a line of clouds in the frame, making the caterpillar much smaller in this wider context.  Despite the size of this equipment, it's really a small thing in this farming landscape.  This was photographed with film, resulting in much smoother gradations of color around the sun relative to what digital usually produces.  Photo © copyright by Stephen Penland.
